Tesla Confirms New 82 kWh Battery Pack in Model 3 Which Is 5% More Powerful

Tesla did not stop improving its current 2170 unit crop while announcing its entirely new 4680 cells at the long-awaited battery day event in September.

Tesla improved its 2170 cell energy density by about 5 percent. The specification 2021 Model 3 lists a battery with an output of 82 kWh, a 7 kWh increase on the current 75 kWh pack.

Last week, Panasonic has revealed the faster charging of new battery cells produced for Tesla in Gigafactory Nevada.

The specification 2021 Model 3 lists a battery with an output of 82 kWh, a 7 kWh increase on the current 75 kWh pack.

Some buyers of Model 3 have shared the information they have received from Tesla and confirms that in Model 3 long-distanceAWD (via tff-forum) new battery packs have a capacity of 82 kWhr.

With 82 kWh, the energy density of new battery cells increases by approximately 5 percent.

These new cells are still 2170 battery cells rather than Tesla’s new 4680 cells that were unveiled at September’s Battery Day. They could still benefit from some improvements in chemistry for their cell format developed by Tesla.
