Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the whole lifestyle and even the season have been changed. The greatest difference this year is that on Thanksgiving people have fewer options to shop than in the previous year.
The biggest retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond & Macy’s that has announced that they will remain close on Thanksgiving.
In July, Walmart US CEO John Furner stated, We know that it’s been a challenging year and that our employees are on the rise and hope to have a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved people, and also said that it is the first time Walmart has closed Thanksgiving in more than 30 years.
Likewise, the company like Costco, Home Depot, Nordstrom, Publix, Trader Joe’s, and others will be closing on Thanksgiving this year as well. Thanksgiving closed downs were a source of tension in the past between retailers and labor defenders, particularly as many retailers had opened their holiday doors in recent years to make a jump on Black Friday, generally thought of as an early start to the end of the year.
However, not all major retailers are going to close on Thanksgiving. Whole Foods, Dollar General and Kroger will be open and it’s a good opportunity for the small business.
In order to prevent coronavirus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says shoppers should avoid going shopping in crowded stores just before, on, or after Thanksgiving. Stay safe, Stay at Home.
